How CrewLingo text messages work
Last updated 2 September 2026
This page explains exactly when CrewLingo sends a text message, what that message says, and how to stop it. It is written for anyone who received a text from a business using CrewLingo, and for carriers and reviewers checking how consent is obtained.
Consent is the phone call
CrewLingo does not collect phone numbers. There is no sign-up form, no keyword to text, and no list to join. A business that uses CrewLingo is given a phone number, and publishes that number itself — on its vehicle, its yard signs, its flyers, its business cards and its online listings. That published number is the only way anyone ever reaches the service.
Exactly what the caller receives
This is the message, in full, as the system sends it. The business name changes; nothing else does. A business owner may reword the first part in their settings, but the rates and opt-out line is always added and cannot be removed by them.
First message — caller's language not yet known
First message — caller already known to prefer Spanish
What happens after that
If the caller replies, their message goes to the business owner, who answers it themselves from a web app. Replies are translated between English and Spanish so each person reads in their own language. Everything after the first message is a conversation the caller started.
Message frequency varies and depends entirely on the conversation. A caller who never replies receives one message and nothing further.
Stopping messages
Mobile numbers and consent are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Numbers are passed only to the service providers needed to deliver the message, which are listed in the privacy policy.
Other messages from the same number
A business using CrewLingo can also send, to people it already has a relationship with:
- An appointment reminder the day before scheduled work
- A bill for work completed
- A note if the day's work is rained out and moved
- A one-time sign-in message to a worker the owner adds to their crew, which contains a link to the business's own web app
All of these go only to customers and workers already on the business's own records. None of them are marketing.
